VERY ACCESSIBLE WILDLIFE PARK! Accessibility Rating: 5/5 Many, though not all, of the animals are endangered species.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, located in Glen Rose, Tx, is a short 20 minute drive from Granbury.
The park represents more than 1,100 animals, including 50-plus species of native and non-native animals living peacefully at the expansive 1,800-acre park. The center was established to aid in the conservation of animal species under the threat of extinction in the wild. Not all of Fossil Rim’s animals are threatened, the vast majority of them are.
Drive yourself around the scenic property or take a tour – whatever is most comfortable for you. You can purchase food at the main entrance and feed the animals. Some will come right up to your car window and eat out of your hand! Zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, turkeys, deer and so much more – what a treat for both adults and kids!
The main entrance has a wheelchair ramp and a handicapped bathroom stall. Another accessible restroom is available at the midpoint on the driving tour. Don’t miss this park – you will enjoy the beautiful property and the exotic animals!
Note: The accomodations onsite are older and not built to be accessible. We recommend you stay at one of the hotels or B & B’s nearby if you are staying overnight.
